Symetri launches consultancy arm

Reseller expands services offering for Autodesk apps

Newcastle-based Autodesk reseller Symetri has created a business unit dedicated to offering consulting services.

According to Colin Watson, corporate director at Symetri, the new Consulting Services arm will initially focus on the integration of engineering-data management systems with other downstream business apps such as ERP.

It will also push sales configurators or engineer-to-order (ETO) systems, Autodesk's cloud-based services and the implementation of dynamic simulation and other processes into customers' engineering design workflows, Watson said.

"Having built up our skills over recent years, we believe we have a team which is second to none in Autodesk's value-added chain," Watson said.

The consultancy arm will be run by business development director Michael Fulthorpe, who previously spent five years working at Autodesk itself in sales-related roles. Before that, he was at Symetri when it was operating as Imass.

According to Fulthorpe, there is increasing demand from users of design software in the manufacturing sector for a more consultative approach to its deployment and integration.

"In setting up Symetri Consulting Services, we want to help customers understand their design software and optimise its use. This will enable them to get their products and services to market more quickly," he said.

"This will involve delivering consultancy in areas such as systems integration, capturing project specifications and testing technology using digital prototyping."

Symetri, a Platinum Autodesk partner, has offices in Aberdeen, Leicester, Wakefield and Milton Keynes as well as Newcastle-upon-Tyne.
