VCW moves into attack mode
Distributor rounds out security portfolio with slew of new vendor signings
VCW Security has unveiled a handful of new vendor signings designed to thrust it squarely back onto the front foot.
The distributor spent six months assessing the landscape before settling on its new allies, which include two-factor authentication vendor SMS Passcode and data loss prevention specialist GTB Technologies.
NAC and IP management outfit Viascope and web filtering challenger Bloxx – a partnership with which was announced last month – complete a quartet of new signings.
Alliances with three more vendors working in the wireless, enterprise UTM/firewall and risk management markets are set to be finalised within a month.
Graham Fox, managing director of VCW Security, said the distributor can now offer the full gamut of security technology from the gateway to the desktop.
"Resellers want a low cost of sale and high margins and technologies that are disruptive against the market leaders," Fox said. "All these technologies are leading visionaries that are only just embarking on their UK adventure."
VCW parted ways with its largest vendor Fortinet in 2010 and Fox admitted 2011 had been a year of flux for the company.
"Last year was about stabilisation and this year is about aggressive growth," he said. "Losing Fortinet was a hiccup for us but we have now made up the ground and then some."
He added: "A lot of companies are pulling in their belts but we are in the fortunate position that we have money and are looking to expand the business and recruit. We are not excluding acquisitions this year."
