M86 says cuts will not affect channel

Global restructuring drive mainly focused on US business, security vendor confirms

M86 Security has stressed its UK partners will not be affected by recent cuts to its global workforce.

The security vendor has reduced its worldwide headcount cost by about 15 per cent but emphasised that most of the job cuts came in the US. The figure includes contractor roles.

UK headcount has fallen by about 10 per cent to 40, with just one of M86's four UK channel staff leaving the firm.

Bruce Green, chief operating officer of M86, said the restructure was mainly about eliminating duplicate cost following the integration of 2009 acquisitions Finjan and Avinti.

"This is really just a tidying up, following the integration of the portfolios," he told ChannelWeb.

"We had a very successful year in the channel last year with our new partner programme and do not want to disrupt that. This is not going to stop us investing in the channel this year."

M86 was formed in 2008 through the union of UK-based Marshal and US-based 8e6.
