Ingram adds OCZ to vendor stable
Distribution giant signs deal with SSD vendor as Thai floods aftermath continues to hit storage drive industry
Ingram Micro has inked a UK distribution deal with solid state drive (SSD) vendor OCZ Technology Group as it looks to beat shortages facing the industry in the wake of the Thai floods.
It has been widely publicised that the industry has been hard hit by the Thai floods which struck last October and left the HDD supply chain in short supply. As a result, demand for the alternative SSD was expected to rocket.
Under the terms of the deal, Ingram will distribute OCZ’s complete line of SSD offerings to its customer base as it looks to grow its presence with business and enterprise clients.
Richard Singh, chief security officer at OCZ Technology Group, said: “Ingram Micro is a recognised leader in the region for the distribution of storage solutions, and we are pleased to partner with them to make our client and enterprise SSD products more available to customers throughout the region.
“Ingram’s clients can now take advantage of the complete OCZ range which is designed to push the envelope in performance, reliability and total cost of ownership,” he added.
Mike Farrah, commercial director at Ingram Micro, said: “With the SSD market in steep growth, it is important to us that our portfolio of available product is meeting the needs of our SMB and enterprise customers. OCZ has a powerful focused offering and we are pleased to take this opportunity to bring the products to a wide audience with immediate availability.”
