Winter of content for Imtech

Dutch firm has landed €34m in UK IT deals since November, including IT infrastructure contract with BBC

Imtech claims its UK ICT supply business is enjoying an unusually good winter, having bagged €34m (£28m) worth of deals since November.

The Netherlands-based technical services monster, which bought UK IBM reseller Real Solutions in 2008, has announced it won a string of high-profile contracts in the UK on both sides of Christmas.

These include helping prepare the BBC's internet IT infrastructure in anticipation of the digital peak expected around the London Olympic Games and the supply of IT infrastructure in a datacentre of a "major government agency".

Imtech merged Real Solutions with its existing UK telecoms business in 2009 under the Imtech ICT banner and has since shifted the unit's focus to cloud computing and managed services.

Pieter Koenders, director of corporate communications, said: "We are performing well in the UK compared with the previous years because we have been able to go to a much higher-value segment and offer clients a total solution. Managed services is an area in which our colleagues in the UK are doing very well."

Imtech said it is also supplying business intelligence solutions to financial data controller Graydon and high-end networking infrastructure to a "major UK quad-play service provider".

Meanwhile, it revealed that consumer goods company Reckitt Benckiser has placed a substantial order for IBM data storage and server infrastructure solution. Imtech also said it continues to work with Cable&Wireless to help extend the footprint of its Juniper MX platform and has concluded a managed services contract with telecoms provider Reliance Globalcom.

Imtech is now chasing a turnover of €8bn by 2015, and René van der Bruggen, chief executive, said: "Imtech is able to take advantage of changing circumstances in the European IT market. This has led to growth in the number of orders received in the UK for distinctive IT solutions in managed services, business intelligence and high-tech network solutions."
