Widget unveils iPhone app for channel deal makers

Distributor launches stock and pricing app for channel movers and shakers

Distributor Widget has unveiled an iPhone app, which customers and suppliers can use to view stock, pricing and product information on the move.

Available via iTunes, the new app is aimed mainly at channel deal makers who are as likely to do business on their smartphone as their desktop PC, said Widget chairman Mark Needham.

The data, which is held on Widget's Maginus ERP system, has been available to customers via a portal on the TomTom, Cisco, Orbitsound and Fitbit distributor's website for some time.

Needham said: "In a week in which so many people in the consumer electronics industry have been at CES, this app has allowed these vendors to check what stock we have in our warehouse in Stevenage while they were in the bars and casinos of Las Vegas.

"Now customers can download the app as well, and get a direct feed from our computer system to their iPhones."
