Fujitsu lures resellers with fat storage discounts

Vendor slashes ETERNUS prices by up to 25 per cent

Fujitsu has gone against the grain by introducing mouth-watering reseller discounts on two of its enterprise storage solutions.

Resellers can net discounts of between 17 and 25 per cent on Fujitsu's ETERNUS DX60 S2 and ETERNUS DX80 S2, which they can either pocket or pass on to the customer.

The vendor dubbed it a "bold move", pointing out that the impact of the Thai floods has prompted many of its contemporaries to hike their prices.

As an example, the ETERNUS DX60 S2 with 1GB iSCSI controller and twin 600GB disk drives is currently available to resellers for £4,095 instead of the usual £5,037. The ETERNUS DX80 S2 drive array with 10GB iSCSI and two 1TB drives is available at £6,084 instead of £8,184.

Fujitsu claims it is also seeing good growth in its storage business, citing internal figures indicating its ETERNUS DX S2 sales leapt fourfold in Q3 2011.

Craig Waters, distribution sales manager at Fujitsu, said: "This is another demonstration of Fujitsu's commitment to the channel and its ability to compete and drive really profitable business for partners. At a time when most vendors are increasing prices and restricting supply, we are offering them even more."
