Midwich adds Intermec rugged mobile kit

Rugged mobile devices for printing available to resellers

Midwich has signed up to push a range of rugged portable supply chain hardware from US-based Intermec Technologies across the UK and Ireland.

Alex Ward (pictured), commercial director at Midwich, said the kit fitted well within the distributor's auto-ID division.

"The Intermec product portfolio allows us to take a total solution from one vendor to the IT reseller market, where we believe there are plenty of opportunities for this kind of technology," Ward said.

Midwich's Synergix division covers the auto-ID and document capture market, he added.

"We can quickly target new potential resellers with primary sectors that are strategic markets for Intermec."

Mel Taylor, EMEA channel director at Intermec, said the vendor felt it needed more partners in the UK, particularly ones that were specialised.

"Midwich has a demonstrated critical mass of resellers. They have clear differentiation in the security and hospitality sectors," Taylor said.

The news follows hard on the heels of the vendor's 10 January announcement that services delivery throughout the EU will now be undertaken by Regenersis, which has repair facilities in Scotland and Germany.

According to Intermec, the change is part of a streamlining of service delivery worldwide. This includes standardised pricing and associated business processes, with a view to enabling a consistent "partner-engaged" service across the region.

Intermec is a US company based in Washington, with a UK office in Reading.
