SecurEnvoy ups distribution ante with Vigil signing

Vigil finds "financially stable" replacement for fallen ally GrIDsure

Tokenless two-factor authentication (2FA) pioneer SecurEnvoy has signed up a second UK distributor in a bid to give its UK resellers more choice and value.

SecurEnvoy - which has been a vocal critic of token-based rivals including RSA - has inked a deal with Vigil Software, which will work alongside existing distributor Avnet.

The UK-based vendor, which lists more than 30 UK partners on its website including SecureData, Armadillo, Assurix and Infosec Technologies, claims it grew 50 per cent last year, justifying the need for a second distributor.

Steve Watts, co-founder and head of channel sales at SecurEnvoy, said: "By introducing Vigil as an additional distributor, there is more competition in the market, which provides the resellers with more choice and value. Vigil also has a very different style to Avnet, who have a traditional channel compared with Vigil who are dynamic, agile and have a faster route to market."

For Vigil, SecurEnvoy will plug the gap left by former tokenless 2FA ally GrIDsure, which was liquidated last autumn after its investor pulled the plug.

Vigil managing director Alex Teh said SecurEnvoy's financial stability was of paramount importance.

"SecurEnvoy has an A1 credit rating with Dun and Bradstreet, which is particularly important after GrIDsure. We still believe in the tokenless 2FA message. Tokens are expensive to buy, maintain and manage."

Teh said Vigil is hunting for 20 to 30 resellers to take the product to market.

Vigil will add SecureEnvoy's software to its remote working portfolio, which also includes encryption and DLP solutions from Safend, SSL and remote working solutions from AEP and mobile device management from FancyFon. "Having SecurEnvoy in that product strategy gives us a strong solution set in what is a fast-growing market," said Teh.
