Computerlinks bulks out core security portfolio

Distributor signs Tufin and Sourcefire

Computerlinks has added muscle to its traditional security business by inking deals with Sourcefire and Tufin in close succession.

Intrusion-prevention vendor Sourcefire has signed Computerlinks as its second UK distributor alongside Avnet. Meanwhile, firewall management vendor Tufin has appointed Computerlinks as its sole UK distributor.

The two contracts will give Computerlinks' base of traditional security resellers something new to take to customers, said David Caughtry, director of core technology (pictured).

"A lot of our focus has been around new technologies and ALVEA [Computerlinks' cloud platform], but that doesn't mean our security and traditional network infrastructure business is any less important," Caughtry said.

He added: "A lot of our resellers sell Juniper, Check Point, Blue Coat and F5, and Tufin is a nice technology that sits across all of them and brings a maturity into the market. Sourcefire is a mature vendor in the UK marketplace and one of the last of its size and credibility that remains independent."

Tufin currently has 8-10 UK resellers, but Computerlinks will look to double that by recruiting resellers with strong firewall estates, including with non-Computerlinks vendors such as Cisco and Palo Alto.

For Sourcefire, Computerlinks will focus on recruiting a small number of SIs and service providers selling into the large enterprise space.
