Micro-P parts ways with comms heads

Phil Adams and Philippa Parrish head for exit as distributor remodels comms business

A reorganisation at Micro Peripherals (Micro-P) has resulted in the departure of comms industry stalwarts Phil Adams and Philippa Parrish.

The distributor poached 38-year industry veteran Adams from rival Nimans last March to steer the growth of its comms business. Parrish joined three months earlier, also from Nimans, and looked after UC peripherals.

But with the technologies they headed up now being folded into Micro-P's networking business - which is led by Simon Barnard - Adams (pictured) and Parrish are leaving with immediate effect.

Micro-P sales and commercial director Paul Bryan admitted the distributor had "made a couple of bets that did not come off".

"We have come a long way with the comms piece and it is growing at 55 per cent year on year," he said. "We want to thank Phil and Philippa for their hard work but the direction of the business is changing."

"The convergence of voice and data is accelerating and we need our networking and comms products to sit in the same area so we can take advantage of that," Bryan added.

Micro-P is priming its networking business for expansion after bagging a big contract with Huawei in September, Bryan said. Although the distributor will continue to work with Samsung and NEC, Bryan admitted the PBX space is no longer the growth priority it once was.
