Cirrus co-founder jumps ship to start-up

Authentication start-up Entersekt snares Mark Kacary to spearhead European assault

Cirrus co-founder Mark Kacary has left the security distributor to spearhead start-up authentication vendor Enterseckt Technologies' European expansion.

Kacary launched Cirrus in 2010 with two other former Integralis staff, Shaun Piper and Martin Woolley.

Start-up Entersekt, which makes PKI-based mobile security solutions, recently snared the custom of Nedbank, one of the largest banks in its native South Africa.

Kacary - who previously ran UK sales for authentication vendor Aladdin - said the vendor is looking for SI partners that can help take it into UK and European high-street banks.

"Entersekt uses mutual certificates to create an effective VPN session between the bank and end user," he said.

"I knew some of the Entersekt guys from previous relationships and they made me an offer I couldn't refuse. The reaction from end-users - some of whom are normally very hard-nosed and cynical - has been terrific."

Piper and Woolley remain at Cirrus, which Kacary stressed is moving "full steam ahead".
