Gem acquires Ztorm
Retail and gaming-focused distributor adds to its digital distribution might with latest buy
Fast-growing distributor Gem has acquired Ztorm AB to boost its digital distribution offering.
Ztorm offers a full service platform which it claims gives publishers and retailers a cost-effective way of delivering digital goods to customers over the internet. The acquisition was for an undisclosed sum.
Alex Croft, group strategy development director at Gem, said: “I am delighted to welcome Ztorm to the Gem Group. The business is exceptionally well placed to develop and grow within an increasingly significant area of the market. As Gem continues to expand the range of retail and partner services on offer, the solutions that Ztorm provides will further enhance our partner offering and the value that we are able to add.”
Anders Emblad, chief executive of Ztorm, said: “We are thrilled to have found a new owner in the Gem Group. Joining forces with the Gem Group will enable synergies benefiting our customers and partners in the coming months and years. Our business relationships will continuously grow and we look forward to extending our market and product offerings as we move ahead."
In separate news, Gem announced a distribution deal with high-end lifestyle and home entertainment manufacturer Jarre. Founded by music legend Jean Michel Jarre, one of the products – an 11ft iPod docking station – retails for £350,000.
Phil Munro, head of business development at Gem, said: “Being recognised for its high-performance and cutting-edge products, we are delighted that Jarre Technologies has chosen Gem as its distribution partner and given us the opportunity to represent the brand as it penetrates the UK retail market. We are very excited to see what the future holds for this partnership.”
The distributor has appointed Louise Yarnold as business development account manager. Formerly at Toyota, Yarnold will report directly to Munro.
