Imago adds Deutsche Telekom video service

Online offering aims to connect disparate conferencing systems

Video comms distributor Imago Group has signed a UK agreement to distribute VideoMeet, an internet-based mobile videoconferencing service from Deutsche Telekom.

Ian Vickerage (pictured), managing director of Imago, said he thinks the service offers something new to the videoconferencing market.

"This market is increasingly moving towards desktop and mobile videoconferencing, and VideoMeet can support and connect people regardless of the system they use or where they work from, whether it is a head office, remote branch, home or on the road," Vickerage added.

The service can be deployed by itself or using existing videoconferencing systems. It is advertised as being able to link systems from the likes of Polycom or Cisco to desktop offerings such as Skype, Google Video Chat, and Microsoft Link.

A web interface allows participants to be invited by email regardless of the system they are already using, who can then join the VideoMeet call for free as only the moderator of the call is charged, according to Imago.
