Veeam eyes closer ties with Microsoft
Virtualisation specialist banks on new product to help forge ties with Microsoft LARs
Virtualisation specialist Veeam has introduced an updated version of its hypervisor management product, as it strives to get a tighter grip on the Microsoft channel.
The vendor makes data management and disaster recovery software designed for use in VMware- and Microsoft-powered virtual environments.
Earlier this week, the firm announced that its virtual management and monitoring product Veeam One will now include support for Microsoft Hyper-V.
The SMB-focused product is pitched as an alternative to Microsoft's System Centre tool, which offers similar support for private, public, on-premise and virtual environments.
Ian Wells, director for Northern Europe at Veeam, told ChannelWeb that the launch is part of the vendor's ongoing push to appeal to a wider range of players in the virtualisation market.
"We made a decision to specialise in virtualisation tools and management products that complement more than one type of hypervisor, which is what we did in the past with VMware," said Wells.
As a result, the vendor is now setting its sights on signing more Microsoft partners, particularly systems integrators and the software giant's large account resellers (LARs).
"The volume resellers are a focus for us. We already work with a few of them, on the VMware side, so it should be relatively straightforward to expand on that to include Microsoft," added Wells.
