Probrand gives the NHS some stick
VAR wins two-year deal to supply ultra-secure USB sticks to NHS hospitals across the UK
Probrand has secured a two-year sole supplier deal to provide NHS hospitals across the UK with SafeXs’s encrypted USB solution.
The deal will help the NHS stick within stringent EU data protection laws, which can incur a fine of up to €1m (£848,000) if breached.
SafeXs USBs are powered by BlockMaster software, and offer full password protection, automatic time lapse lock-down, remote reset and full control and compliance, Probrand claimed.
Richard Hunter-Rice, business development manager at Probrand, said: “Latest EU movements to increase policing and fines for data loss confirms that the business and public communities value data protection highly. This has bounced data governance to the top of the agenda again. It is great to see the NHS proactively leading other organisations to better protect data.”
Anders Kjellander, chief security officer at BlockMaster, added: “It is an important signal to the public sector that SafeXs is the way to protect portable data and citizens’ privacy. The NHS has taken the first steps needed to erase a considerable data loss threat by selecting managed secure USB drives with BlockMaster technology as the industry standard.“
