Concorde soars with Enigma buy

Buy-and-build specialist makes first acquisition in 18 months

Buy-and-build player Concorde IT Group has snapped up Enigma Computer Services for an undisclosed sum.

Kettering-based Enigma should add revenue of more than £500,000 to its new owner's existing top line of about £10m.

The VAR and support services firm was founded in 1999, and key vendor partners include Microsoft and Dell.

After going on a buying spree in 2009 and 2010, today’s deal marks Leeds-headquartered Concorde’s first acquisition in 18 months.

Chief executive Colin Meakin claimed Enigma’s geographical location and skilled Microsoft professionals made it an attractive target.

"We are delighted to have acquired this business. The mix of service contracts and consultancy fits our business model perfectly,” he said.

“The location provides us with great access to the Midlands and South East, and complements our existing locations in the North East, the North West and the South. Our consultancy team has also been strengthened by the addition of five highly skilled and qualified MCSEs and MCPs."

Meakin added that, now his firm is back on the acquisition trail, more deals are on the cards for the rest of the year.

"Our business saw impressive growth in 2011, and we took the time to strengthen our management team and systems to cope with more acquisitions,” he said. “The acquisition of Enigma is the first one in 2012 – we are already examining a number of other opportunities.”
