Iomega debuts NAS channel sales sweeteners

EMC-owned vendor rolls out deal registration and rebate incentives to drive up NAS SMB sales

EMC-owned storage vendor Iomega has re-jigged its partner programme to help drive sales of its Network Attached Storage (NAS) products.

The vendor, which was acquired by enterprise storage giant EMC in 2008, embarked on a renewed push into the SMB sector last June with the rollout of its private cloud-enabling PX NAS devices.

The firm has followed this up by introducing back-end rebates of up to eight per cent for top-tier partners that sell NAS products. It has also rolled out a distributor-led deal registration scheme on NAS deals worth more than £2,000.

Andrew Connor, UK and Ireland country manager at Iomega, said the partner perks are being introduced to help VARs capitalise on the growing demand from SMBs for cloud and virtualisation.

"It's not the main driver behind it, but these are both areas that SMBs are picking up on more and more," Connor told ChannelWeb.

"Every vendor in the market also seems to have put their prices up because of the Thai floods, and the deal registration scheme is our way of giving partners back some margin."
