Steljes launches specialist products arm
Three appointments made to capitalise on pro-audiovisual opportunities
Education audiovisual distributor Steljes has set up a specialist products division targeting lucrative opportunities in the professional audiovisual market.
Dubbed the Specialist Products Division, the new arm will focus on core connectivity – signal conversion products, switching and distribution offerings, cloud-based digital signage and social media integration, as well as custom videowall deployments.
Stuart Humphries has been poached from audiovisual vendor Magenta Research to be commercial manager of the new division.
"This is a market I know Steljes can dominate. Steljes is well known for selling the 'front end' of offerings such as Smart boards, projectors and large-format displays," he said in a statement provided by the distributor. "We will be providing our reseller partners with sales support, technical expertise and products."
Two other hires have been made to kick-start the new operation, reporting to Humphries.
Former Micro-P staffers Mike Fry and Jin Khangura will be responsible for technical aspects and helping the sales teams respectively.
Nine additional vendors have been signed up, including videowall display and processor offerings specialist EyeVis, cloud digital signage manufacturer SubTV, CAT switching and distribution vendor Smart-E, and control and connectivity vendor Ikon AVS.
Ian Goodhind, commercial director at Steljes, said the distributor is always exploring the potential for new markets and opportunities.
"We realised that we had a gap in our portfolio," he said. "This is a natural extension to our portfolio."
Goodhind claimed that resellers would likely make "excellent margins" on the Specialist Products Division range.
