Symantec: Grace period rejig will promote prompt renewals

Changes to support renewal policies could cut customers' grace periods from 90 to 30 days in two weeks' time

Symantec has claimed that its standardisation of renewal grace periods will promote the prompt renewal of its products.

From 2 April, the vendor will change its support renewal policies and implement 30-day grace periods for all products and customers. Previously, products had different grace periods, ranging from zero up to 90 days. Partners have been notified of changes to the renewal policy.

In a statement issued to ChannelWeb, the security vendor said: "Symantec has notified its valued partners of updates to Symantec's Support Renewal Policies, effective 2 April. To promote on-time support renewals, Symantec has implemented a standardised grace period of 30 days for all products."
