Westcoast offers education sweetener

Distributor looks to drive sales of Microsoft IT Academy with latest scheme, and also issues a fitness test to industry with 100-mile cycle challenge in May

Westcoast is hoping to tempt VARS with its latest incentive to drive sales of Microsoft's IT Academy SKU to the UK education market.

Under the scheme, all Microsoft Authorised Education Resellers (AERs) will be rewarded with £50 for purchasing the Microsoft IT Academy either with new open value subscription education solutions, or by adding to existing agreements.

The Microsoft IT Academy is an educational programme that offers tools and resources that equip academic institutions to deliver training to staff, students and the wider community.

Ben Feurtado, Microsoft business manager at Westcoast, said: “The objective of this incentive is long term. We are driven to help academic customers adopt computer science to assist academic institutions, teachers, students and the community gain relevant, up-to-date and inspiring IT knowledge.”

In separate news, Westcoast also launched its latest fitness drive to celebrate the launch of its new smart resources site Gym+.

The distributor is looking to encourage 150 channel bods to take part in a 100-mile cycle ride across London in aid of charity, on a Saturday in May, which will culminate in a party and BBQ in Windsor.

According to the Westcoast site, the ride is designed to be accessible for people who might be new to cycling and are looking for a challenge.

The day will take riders along 100 miles of scenic back road north then west from the Isle of Dogs to Royal Windsor.
