Computerworld Wales wins seven-figure Newport PC deal
Welsh VAR celebrates potential £1m contract to supply 3,000 clients to schools, its second Value Wales framework win this year
Computerworld Wales has tied up a seven-figure contract with Newport City Council to deliver and support up to 3,000 PCs to the Welsh city's schools.
The three-year deal, agreed through the Value Wales framework, covers 2,500 to 3,000 Lenovo laptops and desktops. As an authorised Lenovo warranty provider, Computerworld will also provide support and maintenance over the life of the contract.
Shaune Parsons, managing director of the Cardiff-based VAR, told ChannelWeb that the contract has returned to his firm after six years, following three-year stints with Dell and then Viglen. The deal could be worth more than £1m, he added.
"It is down to the hard work by the team at Computerworld," he explained. "It is important that the whole industry remembers that last year was extremely tough. But we kept our heads up and kept in touch with our customers and we are now reaping the rewards."
Computerworld retained its place on the Value Wales framework when suppliers were announced in September. The Newport City Council deal follows a similar one with Blaenau Gwent County Borough Council, which the VAR tied up around the turn of the year. The two-year education contract covers laptops, desktops and support.
"It was key for us to get back on to Value Wales," added Parsons.
