Ingram Micro to offer Ipanema app as a service

Application performance as a service offering available to VARs soon

Ingram Micro has signed up as distributor for Ipanema Technologies' cloud-based application governance offering targeting smaller companies.

Renée Bergeron, vice president for managed services and cloud computing at Ingram Micro North America, indicated that the offering will initially be available to Ingram Micro's system integrator, cloud services providers, MSPs and resellers in the US, but other countries can expect access in coming months.

"We're pleased to bring this to market via the Ingram Micro Cloud and see tremendous business value in the benefits this innovative technology brings to our MSP partners," she said in a statement.

According to Ipanema, the new SaaS offering, dubbed AppsWork, targets SMB customers that want to optimise the performance of all their applications. Guaranteed application performance has tended to be the preserve of offerings targeting large enterprises.

Rogier van der Wal, vice president of cloud services at Ipanema, said: "SMBs can now consume applications as needed, without worrying about performance and end-user experience."

Ipanema claims AppsWork, priced at "a few dollars per user per month" and based on Ipanema's enterprise-grade offering, will help SMBs reduce the need for capital investment and access to IT skills. It is provisioned and managed via a service portal based on Salesforce.com's platform and hosted by Rackspace.
