Apple set to create 500 jobs in Ireland

Vendor confirms to Irish news source that it is expanding its Cork HQ

Apple is set to create a further 500 jobs at its Cork headquarters, a report has claimed.

According to Irish news site RTE the technology giant plans to construct a three-storey office building next to its existing premises in the city to cope with its expansion plans for Europe, the Middle East, India and Africa.

Apple employs around 2,800 people in Cork and has been in the city for 30 years.

According to the report, Alan Hely, Apple's senior director for corporate communications, said the firm plans to increase its workforce to 3,300 over the next 18 months.
