Lenovo adds C2000 as fourth UK distributor

Chinese hardware titan eyes 10 per cent market share as it recruits UK's biggest distie for SMB push

Lenovo is hoping the signing of Computer 2000 (C2000) as its fourth UK distributor will help it achieve its SMB market growth plans.

C2000 will work across the UK and Ireland, where it joins UK incumbents Ingram Micro, SDG and Micro Peripherals and Irish distie Sharptext. The Basingstoke-based distribution giant will take stock of the Chinese vendor's full range of Think products, including PCs, servers and workstations. The partnership comes into effect in the second half of this calendar year.

Darren Phelps, Lenovo's SMB and channel director for the UK and Ireland, explained that his firm's goal is to snare 10 per cent market share in the UK.

"The key for us in terms of success is to ensure we have the breadth and depth in our channel to capitalise on the market opportunity," he added.

David Watts, commercial director of Computer 2000, said: "Lenovo as a company has gone from strength to strength in the past year. The company not only has a great line-up of products today, but an impressive pipeline of innovative products that will ensure significant revenue opportunities for our resellers."
