Aegis IT helps school get virtual
VAR installs Huawei SAN solution at Durham school as it looks to replace ageing servers
VAR Aegis IT has helped a secondary school make its virtualisation dreams a reality after installing a Huawei SAN solution at the Durham-based establishment.
Framwellgate School in Durham caters for 11 to 18-year-old pupils and was looking to set up the foundations for a move to virtual desktops after becoming increasingly frustrated with its ageing server network.
Aegis IT recommended a change in SAN technology to provide a system that was both expandable and could provide the different types of disks required for both server and desktop virtualisation in one chassis. As a result, it introduced the Huawei OceanStor S2600 technology to tick all the boxes.
Since the initial installation the school has already set up 100 virtual desktops and has plans for more in the future.
Peter Cook, IT manager of Framwellgate School, said: “We are delighted with the solution. The technology allows us to provide a fantastic IT service to the school and allows for future development as our requirements expand.”
Peter Catch, senior technical consultant at Aegis IT, said: “The Huawei OceanStor S2600 SAN technology fulfilled our requirements and allowed us to provide our customer with broad functionality, flexibility and value for money.”
