Midwich adds Salt to audio expansion
Distributor buys Manchester pro-audio firm
Distributor Midwich has bought out Trafford Park-based audio, CCTV and door entry specialist RW Communications for an undisclosed sum.
According to a statement from Midwich, the acquired distribution firm will boost its position in the pro-audio market for which it set up a separate division only last year.
Stephen Fenby, managing director of Midwich, said recent years have seen Midwich work to build technical depth into its audiovisual offering, both organically and through targeted acquisition.
"The acquisition of RW Salt represents a significant boost to our capability to provide high added-value support to our customers with audio projects," Fenby confirmed. "Cost-effective, efficient distribution remains a core part of our business. However, we are now also able to provide extensive technical support for a wide range of complex audiovisual projects."
Fenby said the team at Salt has enjoyed a strong reputation with customers and vendors alike.
"We are all looking forward to working with them. Besides audio, existing RW Salt customers will benefit from access to a much larger product range, including displays, projection, connectivity, command and control, digital signage, security and access control," he added.
Craig Buckley (pictured), managing director at RW Salt, is stepping down from that role but will work "very closely" with the Midwich group of companies.
"By integrating within the group, we will be able to move forward into new and exciting areas of business and expand on the many vertical markets that are served by the Midwich group," Buckley said.
RW Salt was launched 25 years ago. Its expertise has been built on support and design services as well as product delivery for both installers and resellers. Its product portfolio also includes loudspeakers, conferencing systems, systems for users with special needs and mixing desks.
