An iPass for remote mobile device management

Expanded channel programme aims at remote working and consumerisation sales

Mobile connectivity provider iPass is on the hunt for enterprise channel partners with mobile device management capabilities.

René Hendrikse, EMEA vice president at iPass, said the advance of bring-your-own-device (BYOD) and remote working means a growing market for mobile device management. As a result, iPass is expanding its channel partner programme in Europe, with a view to recruiting resellers with those skills.

"Businesses are looking for solutions that offer insight, security and cost control for an increasingly mobile workforce," Hendrikse said in a statement. "VARs can help companies address these issues."

Hendrikse said its iPass Open Mobile is about helping IT departments on-board multiple devices and control network costs, as well as offering access to iPass's large global Wi-Fi network, which incorporates 800,000 hotspots in 118 countries. It also offers a chance for additional recurring revenue to resellers, he said.

US-based iPass will also provide sales and marketing support, he said.

"Businesses are becoming increasingly frustrated with 3G costs and there exists a significant opportunity for resellers to present seamless global Wi-Fi access," Hendrikse claimed.
