Esteem to give Insight into Leeds hospitals IT
Leeds Teaching Hospitals trust awards infrastructure project to reseller giant, which picks local VAR as subcontractor
VARs Insight and Esteem Systems are to help one of the country's largest NHS trusts trim its hardware estate and unify its infrastructure on to one platform.
Leeds Teaching Hospitals, which runs six facilities across the West Yorkshire city, is looking to reduce its reliance on hardware and eradicate the problems inherent in sharing patient data across the existing dispersed infrastructure.
The trust employs more than 14,000 people and has handed the project to reseller titan Insight, which will subcontract to Leeds-based Esteem.
Eileen Jessop, deputy director of informatics at Leeds Teaching Hospitals, said: "Reducing the requirement for hardware in the new unified infrastructure and simplifying the management of the technology will lead to a significant cost saving for us."
Esteem will be rolling out Microsoft Active Directory and System Centre Configuration Manager, allowing the trust, which treats more than one million patients a year, to manage and deliver applications centrally.
Alastair Kitching, sales and marketing director at Esteem, said: "This is one of a number of projects being undertaken by Esteem, where NHS trusts are investing in their IT infrastructure to improve access to clinical systems, which will ultimately improve patient care."
