Westcoast hails UC push

Distributor set to hold more dedicated events as it guns for a slice of the $16.6bn EMEA UC market

Westcoast is pushing for more growth in its UC business as it aims to grab a bigger share of the lucrative market.

Six months ago the distributor launched its UC team, partnering with vendors such as Aastra, HP, Microsoft and AudioCodes and hailed its first dedicated event, at its Solutions Lab in Milton Keynes a success. Its second event took place yesterday.

With market watcher IDC predicting the sector will be worth $16.6bn by 2015, and the UK the second most valuable market in Western Europe, Westcoat claims it is a great opportunity for its resellers to capitalise.

Scott Somenthal, UC sales manager at Westcoast, said: "Over the past six months we have developed some great partnerships with many UC vendors, including Sennheiser - the latest addition to our UC vendor portfolio.

Alan Reeve, managing director of Aastra UK and Ireland, praised Westcoast's first event.

"We were pleased to support Westcoast’s reseller event in its new Solutions Suite and to meet a range of resellers who are interested in our Unified Communications capabilities. The event was a great success in positioning Westcoast’s credentials in Unified Communications with the support of Aastra’s proven experience.”

Daniel Raye, marketing manager at AudioCodes, was also positive about the evnet.

“Westcoast’s UC Partner Event was very well received by the partners attending the event and we already received a number of interesting leads to follow up on from resellers attending," he said.
