ANS Group ties up WH Ireland infrastructure revamp deal

Manchester VAR to deploy Cisco, VMware and NetApp kit to shrink IT estate of financial services outfit

VAR ANS Group has won a deal to design and implement a new computing infrastructure for financial services outfit WH Ireland.

The broking and wealth management company is implementing two datacentres to provide IT services to the 19 offices it operates at locations across the UK. ANS will deploy infrastructure including Cisco UCS blades and Nexus switches, NetApp storage and VMware virtualisation.

WH Ireland currently owns and runs 50 servers across the country and this project is designed to reduce that to six: three at each of the new sites. The firm's disaster recovery strategy is also to be revamped, with the aim of significantly reducing the time needed to restore systems and functionality.

Paul Sweeney, managing director of ANS Group, said "This is an excellent deployment that will help WH Ireland to continue to remain at the top of their game. Once again we are seeing ‘Infrastructure 3.0' save money for one of our customers and improve their levels of IT performance and service delivery to both their business, and their clients."

David Halstead, IT director at WH Ireland, added: "We are very excited about this new infrastructure and the difference it is going to make to our capabilities. The financial savings are well documented, but more importantly the improvements in disaster recovery and the platform that we have been given to build our future IT provision, will have a real, positive impact of the firm's performance in the future."
