Thirty-five run really UKFast for charity

Thousands raised for four worthy causes in huge team effort

Some 35 UKFast runners – a quarter of the telecoms providers workforce – have returned to the office after competing to be the largest and fastest corporate group in the Great Manchester 10k Run on 20 May.

According to a spokesperson, the team (some of whom are pictured above) unfortunately were not quite the fastest, although they were one of the largest corporate teams on the day.

Even so, some £2,500 has so far been raised to help Llanberis Mountain Rescue, the Alzheimer's Society, Cheshire's Neuromuscular Centre, and the NSPCC.

The goal is to raise £8,000, with donations still coming in to JustGiving at the time of writing, UKFast said.

Collectively, the team ran 3,000km in training under the watchful eye of UKFast's personal development manager. Many had never run before. A special session by British running medallist Diane Modahl was held as part of their 12-week training schedule.

The firm also hopes to send teams to the Great North Run and the Salford Quays dragon boat race this year.
