Proact launches Scottish recruitment push

Fifty roles to be created at the North Lanarkshire branch

A European storage VAR is further expanding into the UK market with the creation of 50 jobs in Scotland.

Bosses at Swedish outift Proact, a storage integrator and cloud solution enabler, have made the decision to create the roles in Bellshill, North Lanarkshire, after receiving a grant from Scottish Development International (SDI), which aims to encourage Scottish companies to develop trade internationally.

Danny Quinn, head of MCS operations at Proact, who recently bought out B2Net, said: "[SDI] was a big factor in the decision to send the jobs to Scotland, especially when looking at other competing markets. The further east in Europe you go, the more that you're competing against price.

"SDI really was a big bonus in this case for us."

The 50 openings will include opportunities for experienced technology consultants and industry experts, and for around 15 graduates.

According to Quinn, the North Lanarkshire branch bid for the jobs as they were keen to expand their resources in Scotland.

He said: "Proact looked at all of the regions it operates in across the UK to give these jobs to, but we put forward a strong argument.

"Our head office is based in Chesterfield and we are recruiting aggressively across the whole of the UK, but we wanted to increase our resource pool.

"The company is keen for an English-speaking call desk, which sets us aside from European partners. Business continuity is also really important for Proact. Scotland and Chesterfield are far enough apart to justify us having the jobs in Scotland; we really want a rich pool of resources in the country," he added.

Proact is looking to recruit from mid June.
