Northamber signs IRIS document recognition deal

Distributor sees way ahead for documentation and scanning offerings

Northamber has been awarded UK rights to the portfolio of intelligent document recognition, mobile scanning peripherals and enterprise content management vendor IRIS.

According to IRIS, which is based in Belgium, the Northamber agreement is a major one that will expand its sales presence throughout the UK.

Bernard de Fabribeckers, worldwide sales director of products and technologies at IRIS, said finding the right distributor for the UK was critical, as more UK-based companies were showing interest in IRIS technology, which works with Mac OSes as well as Windows.

"In the UK we have decided to enlarge our presence in this fast-moving market," Fabribeckers said. "With Northamber as our national distributor, we have found experienced and ambitious partners that will help us attract technically sophisticated private and professional users."

Northamber will offer IRIS' professional and corporate OCR software, compressed PDF creator app, smart digital pen technology, mobile scanners and business card readers.

IRIS has reported a turnover of €121m. It has around 600 staff based in Benelux, France, Germany, US, China and Norway.
