Viglen adds to academy tally with Thetford win
System builder grabs five-year deal to supply IT equipment and services to Thetford Academy
Viglen has bagged a five-year, seven-figure deal with Thetford Academy to supply IT equipment and services.
From September 2013, all the students at the Norfolk-based academy will be brought onto one single site and as part of the £1.6m deal, Viglen has the task of creating a "transformational learning" experience for its students.
Viglen, which has won several high-profile academy contracts over the past 12 months, will install its Cohaero portal as part of the deal to encourage engagement between students, teachers and parents, and the education establishment hopes for the creation of a model that allows ICT resources to become embedded in subject teaching, rather than just contained in dedicated rooms.
Cathy Spillane, principal of Thetford Academy, said: “We are delighted to have entered into this partnership with Viglen which has an excellent track record in delivery of ICT to the education sector.
“We want our new building to help transform education in the town and Viglen demonstrated to us that they have the skills, experience and commitment to ensure the teachers and pupils in Thetford will have the very best ICT equipment when our new building opens in September 2013.”
Bordan Tkachuk, chief executive of Viglen, said: “We are thrilled to have secured a contract with Thetford Academy. This is an exciting project with a fantastic vision and we look forward to transforming the ICT experience for students and staff alike. This follows on from several other academy contract wins in the past year and we hope that the success will continue as people see the benefits of our work.”
