Alvea launches DNS service

Cloud services aggregator Alvea Services is launching a domain name system (DNS) managed service to its UK and Ireland channel partners.

Alvea, an offshoot of distributor Computerlinks launched 18 months ago, claims the DNS service is built on a global directory platform. The cloud specialist also indicated it will offer around-the-clock service management and that the service will negate the possibility of outages by resetting during admin procedures or hardware failures.

Customers can scale the service easily to support an increase in their DNS needs, said Alvea, and payment plans can be structured on a monthly, quarterly or annual basis. Also being launched is the complementary DNSFailover service to which customers can subscribe for web presence monitoring and automatic IP failover.

Kathryn Miller, services delivery manager at Alvea, said: "As organisations become more reliant on internet transactions for business-critical functions, managing DNS is a key element of website security and resilience. It may not be a particularly glamorous aspect of IT, but it is vital for business continuity."

Alvea has also unveiled a trio of channel-facing new hires today, in the shape of services proposition manager Neil Gardner, sales manager Jason Phillips and sales specialist Jon McFaddon.
