Zycko teams up with Actifio to eliminate firms' need for backup
Actifio's PAS technology copies and reuses data
VAD Zycko has partnered with US storage outfit Actifio to distribute the vendor's protection and availability storage (PAS) technology, which the two firms claim can eliminate the need for backup software.
Actifio says its wares can reduce storage costs by up to 90 per cent by copying and reusing data. Network bandwidth usage can also be reduced by 70 per cent, claimed the vendor.
Ash Ashutosh, chief executive of Actifio, said: "We are excited to work with Zycko to enable partners across the UK to deliver Actifio-based solutions to simplify customers' infrastructures.
"This can save them millions of pounds by moving beyond the reliance of traditional point tools such as backup software, replication and device-dependent snapshots."
Darren Sheppard, Zycko's manager of vendor solutions, agrees that PAS, which is used in about 100 organisations globally, can bring down enterprise costs.
He explained: "This is the only platform that completely streamlines the data management and backup process for end users and consolidates multiple infrastructures to a single interface, from which managers can ensure business continuity and data protection.
"The Actifio product fits with our focus on virtualisation and its associated cost savings and efficiency. Its ability to perform multiple data protection operations literally allows IT managers to do more with less."
