Carpenter to reconstruct Wick Hill's sales strategy
Security distributor calls in former Avnet, Bell and Ingram man to head up sales strategy
Wick Hill has hired experienced distribution head Richard Carpenter to spearhead its sales operations.
Carpenter joins the security distributor following stints at a string of distributors including Avnet, Bell and most recently Ingram Micro, where he headed up the broadliner's Cisco and enterprise networking, storage and server business.
Wick Hill's sales manager post has been lying vacant since the departure of Kevan Reade earlier this year.
The distributor has split Reade's old role in two. Carpenter will oversee the overall sales strategy and focus on visiting resellers, while Qasim Bhatti – who joined recently from T-Mobile as sales office manager – will focus on managing internal staff.
Carpenter started at the distributor last Monday.
Ken Ward, managing director of Wick Hill, said: "Previously, we had one role covering the whole lot but it was too wide a span. This allows more focus on visiting customers and managing the sales team."
Ian Kilpatrick, chairman of Wick Hill, added: "Richard has a rich channel background, working at Avnet, Bell and Ingram, with a really high focus on value-add. It looks as if he has the skills and knowledge to help us go to the next level."
