Trend Micro adds Tekdata and Micro-P for SMB might
Security vendor plugs hole left by Ingram Micro split
Trend Micro has filled the gap in its distribution line-up left by the departure of Ingram Micro by signing a pact with security specialist Tekdata and its parent Micro-P.
Tim Ayling, Trend Micro's UK channels and marketing director, said the vendor had been hunting an SMB specialist following its recent split with the broadliner.
The deal, which was signed on Monday, sees Tekdata and Micro-P complete the line-up of four distributors, alongside Arrow, Computerlinks and Blue Solutions.
Tim Ayling, Trend Micro's UK channels and marketing director, said: "We [Trend Micro] felt that it was in our interest to have a second distributor at SMB level, and Tekdata's knowledge of that market is a good fit for us.
"Four is the right number [of distributors]; we do not want too many, so it is about right to have two at the top end and two at SMB level."
Jason Hill, sales director of Tekdata, said he would push Trend's portfolio to the distributor's database of 1,500 resellers.
"Trend Micro de-duplicated our database against its current reseller base and saw a great opportunity for growth," he said.
"Micro-P has excellent roots into the retail market and we are a specialist security distributor, so it makes a great fit for them."
