Savidge character goes all out on Exmoor
Interactive Ideas sales director completes first half-Ironman
Brett Savidge, sales director at Interactive Ideas, has finished in his first half-Ironman.
According to Savidge (pictured, during the event), the Exmoor 70.3 has a reputation as being the hardest 70.3 in the world. Some 2,000 athletes took part in this year's event on 17 June.
"I always like to challenge myself and have been doing smaller triathlons for three or four years. Moving up to this distance was the next step," he said.
"I find that doing triathlons helps with the stresses of work life. I train with a triathlon team, called the RG active Race Team; we all motivate each other."
The Ironman 70.3 competition is a triathlon comprising a 1.2-mile swim in Wimbleball Lake, a 56-mile cycle across Exmoor, and a 13.1-mile run around the lake.
Savidge completed six months of training, involving 10 to 12 hours every week, and crossed the finish line in six hours and 28 minutes.
The Interactive Ideas staffer has already registered for a full-length Ironman race in Germany next year.
