Record growth for AVR International
Security VAR trebles profit and adds £1m in sales in its fiscal 2011
Security reseller AVR International has trebled its profits courtesy of booming demand for mobile device management (MDM) solutions and consolidation among its vendor partners.
The Maidenhead-based reseller, which hopes to open a new branch in the coming months, recorded an after-tax profit of £222,735 for its fiscal year to July 2011, up from £69,158 the previous year.
AVR's turnover for 2011 reached £2.7m, increasing from £1.7m in 2010, a figure David Watkins, the company's corporate account manager, put partly down to an "explosion" in MDM demand.
He said: "In our first 12 months of looking at MDM, we picked up new opportunities every week. It is a huge growth area for us as it is a leading concern for organisations across the board.
"It is no longer a question of whether you are considering MDM, it is now about how you are handling it."
High-profile security vendor acquisitions have also had a positive impact on the security market according to the reseller, which has about 25 vendor partners including McAfee and Juniper.
Watkins continued: "Acquisitions have had a big impact on the channel, and for us it means the competitive landscape narrows.
"For example, the McAfee portfolio is very large now, and the acquisition by Intel has enabled it to release new products so its investment in technology is greater.
"The higher volume of solutions offered means we can position ourselves to clients in a different way now, which is great."
