Imerja wins £650k University of Durham network security deal

Contract award notice shows Bolton VAR won tender process for "security hardening" project

Security VAR and services provider Imerja has tied up a £650,000-plus deal with University of Durham to design, supply and support a network security infrastructure.

According to a contract award notice, the Horwich-based Check Point, Websense and Extreme Networks partner has been chosen following a tender process. The notice explains that the project is part of the university's "strategic security hardening" process.

Imerja has been tasked with building a "robust DMZ infrastructure" and a "resilient datacentre security" set-up. The VAR has also been contracted to remote-access VPN technology and a network management platform.

The total value of the contract is pegged at £650,000, excluding VAT. The tender, in which two firms took part, was 10 per cent weighted towards the form of tender, 35 per cent towards price and 55 per cent towards "appropriateness of solution".
