Record Q2 results for SAP
Company records 1,200 per cent growth in cloud subscriptions
Software giant SAP has claimed that its stellar Q2 results, which recorded total revenue of €3.9bn (£3bn), were not achieved by pulling Q3's success forward.
The firm posted a year-on-year operating profit increase of seven per cent to €921m, compared with €857m in Q2 2011.
SAP's cloud subscriptions and support grew by 1,200 per cent year on year, from €4m to €52m, while software peaked at almost €1.1bn, a 26 per cent increase from 2011's Q2.
The firm attributes its success to the launch of its HANA in-memory product and the addition of cloud and mobile products to its core business, as well as growth from acquisitions.
Bill McDermott, co-chief executive of SAP, insisted that Q2's success will not eat into future results success.
He said: "Q2 stood on its own merit, it was not swayed by one transaction. We did not pull Q3 forward to achieve Q2."
SAP claims to have grown twice as fast as its competitors in Q2 within EMEA, putting its success partly down to winning customers from its competition.
"[In EMEA] we now have 2,000 new customers which we have won from our competition such as Oracle. We have gained market share especially in the enterprise application market," added McDermott.
