F5 and Westcon go global

Application delivery vendor inks worldwide partnership with distributor Westcon

Application delivery networking firm F5 Networks has appointed Westcon as its first global distribution partner to serve the needs of VARs and services providers who require standardised programmes across the world.

The F5 website indicates that Westcon or its recent acquisitions Afina and Triple Accesss IT have an existing relationship with the vendor in 21 of the 51 countries around the world where it works through distribution. This includes the UK, where F5 also partners with Exclusive Networks, Avnet and Computerlinks.

Westcon is now permitted to sell F5 products the world over, and the New York state-based distributor has the task of developing worldwide programmes and initiatives and allowing the vendor to run a more streamlined distribution channel.

Dean Darwin, senior vice president of F5's worldwide partner organisation, said: "Organisations are increasingly global in nature, and our channel partners need specialised worldwide programmes to satisfy new requirements. Cloud and service providers need a standardised approach to efficiently support all types of users and business efforts around the world."

Bill Corbin, executive vice president of global vendor relationships at Westcon Group, added: "Westcon prides itself on working with premier technology vendors to jointly address the most challenging IT priorities of our diverse partner base."
