Chess racks up two more acquisitions

Voice and data VAR adds £2.4m and 1,000 customers with latest purchases

Chess has stepped back on the acquisition path by snapping up Essex-based Cable Telecommunications and the maintenance base of Pink Telecom.

The acquisitions will add about £2.4m of annual turnover to the voice and data supplier's bottom line, and more than 1,000 new customers.

They follow a slew of acquisitions by the firm earlier this year, including Supply Communications, Rely Telecom and Deep Blue Networks.

David Pollock (pictured), chief executive of Chess, said: "We are delighted with the acquisition of Pink's maintenance base and Cable Telecommunications as they are a great strategic fit with our business.

"We extend a warm welcome to our new customers and our new people, in particular a new team of telephone system engineers who further strengthen our ability to deliver cost-effective telephone systems and maintenance services across the UK."

Peter Southgate, director of Cable, said: "Chess' reputation as acquisition experts is well founded and we believe that in partnering with Chess, we have made the right choice for both us and our customers moving forward."

Richard Btesh, director of Chess, hinted that there will be more acquisitions to come.

"We have an ever-growing pipeline of potential acquisitions," he said. "We are always ready to move quickly and have the cash and experience to support the process. If you are looking to cash out and hit the beach, give us a call."
