Dixons Retail confirms Birbeck move

Retail giant bigs up his successor Felix Stauber

Dixons Retail has confirmed that Phil Birbeck is set to take over the reins of its France-based e-tailer PIXmania.

And as predicted by CRN last week, the company, which acquired a further stake in PIXmania last week, has also confirmed that Felix Stauber has taken over as managing director of Equanet.

The full statement is below:

"Dixons Retail plc, one of Europe’s leading multi-channel specialist electrical retailing and services companies, has announced it has reached an agreement to acquire the 22 per cent interest in PIXmania S.A.S. currently indirectly held by the founders of the business, Steve and Jean-Emile Rosenblum.

"Dixons already holds a 77 per cent interest in PIXmania.”

“Following the acquisition Phil Birbeck will assume responsibility for PIXmania and as such will relinquish his role as managing director of Equanet. Felix Stauber is appointed as managing director of Equanet.

"Felix will work with the Management Team in Bury to improve the Equanet proposition and continue the work to develop the customer plan. Felix knows the business well and has been a key component in developing the Equanet strategy in his role as head of business development for DSG Business. He is well regarded by senior Group management and has both the skills and the experience to ensure Equanet keeps moving forward.”
