Update: Verrex confirms closure of both UK offices
EMEA managing director to move on when current projects finish
Integrator Verrex's US headquarters has confirmed that its London sales office will close by the end of this month, and that the UK head office in Hertford is being wound down and will close by the end of this year.
As reported by ChannelWeb, the audiovisual specialist has begun a restructure that will bring the shutters down on its UK operations, with a view to refocusing its energies where it believes it can profit most.
Theresa Hahn, director of marketing and business development at Verrex, said EMEA managing director James Shanks will remain on board until his current projects and commitments have been completed.
"On Friday 10 August, some redundancies took place, but I do not have that number. Several key staff remain," Hahn said. "Our UK clients, similarly to what we already do throughout Europe, will continue to be served through a global alliance."
She did not reveal the status of the new sales director, Jonathan Foot. An email to his Verrex email address yesterday returned a message saying he is on leave until 20 August.
Staff working on customer sites have not been affected by the redundancies and will not be. Details of the ongoing partner network to serve UK customers in the future will be announced shortly, she said.
The Asia-Pacific offices are also being wound down, according to a Verrex statement.
