EMC disties get right of assembly
Move designed to achieve faster implementation of VSPEX architecture
EMC is aiming to ease reseller integration headaches by training its distributors to assemble multi-vendor solutions featuring its technology.
The move is designed to achieve faster and easier implementations of VSPEX, a multi-vendor private cloud architecture EMC launched in April built on its technology.
Until now, VARs had to have ordered and tested the various server, networking and virtualisation components that made up the solution themselves.
Talking to ChannelWeb, Daniel Coetsier, vice president of global services at EMC, said UK distributors Magirus, Arrow and Avnet would be up and running within a month if they got on board with the scheme.
"The benefit to the reseller is that they can order a single, pre-defined SKU from the distributor and do not have to worry about ordering components from vendors A, B and C and having to integrate it together," he said.
Coetsier said the programme is part of EMC's wider drive to transfer more services work to the channel.
In a statement, Christian Magirus, executive vice president of Magirus, said: "In today's market, VARs are demanding proven multi-vendor infrastructure solutions in one easy and fast shipment that is simple and efficient.
"EMC's new assembly services are a critical component for Magirus to deliver VSPEX and EMC's unified storage and backup solutions pre-tested, configured and tailored to meet our resellers' customer needs faster and easier."
