Softcat combines networking and security divisions
Reseller claims merger will make life easier for customers
VAR Softcat has pooled the resources of its networking and security divisions and created a combined team.
The move, which aims to address the overlap between the product areas, will offer a single point of contact for its customers previously served by two divisions.
Member of the security division staff have undertaken training over the past six months in preparation for the division merger.
The reseller claims the move will consolidate the expertise of the two areas, making sure customers moving to cloud-based infrastructures are adequately protected.
Matt Helling, who has worked at Softcat since 2002, will head up the newly merged division, and said the union will make life easier for customers.
He said: "Now that we have combined our network and security divisions, our clients will not have to have one conversation about things such as core switching and routing, and then a separate one about firewalling and penetration testing.
"The network and security consultant you are dealing with will work with you throughout the project, from initial discussions through to meetings, project planning and project management."
