Six of the best for Printerland

MPS, colour laser sales boost expansion in the North

Cheshire printer reseller Printerland has added another six salespeople to help fan its ongoing expansion.

James Kight (pictured), managing director of Printerland, said the VAR is seeing ongoing opportunity in colour laser and MPS with a range of vendors.

"The bottom line is that we are flying. We have taken more market share, and we are working harder," he said.

The latest six hires are currently in training with Xerox, and the reseller, founded in 1993, now has 38 staff and has served 150,000 customers, Kight said.

Ninety per cent of its turnover for the year ending April 2012 was based on colour business lasers. Meanwhile, its MPS sales expanded, making for total turnover of £12m to £14m two years ago and £18m in the most recent year.

"We're on track to hit £24m to £28m in the current year," said Kight.

Despite the tough times and ubiquitous concerns about cost and resource waste, organisations appear to be printing more, he said.

"The market is always challenging, but people are doing well in it," he added.

"Higher-value boxes" and printing from mobile devices are proving more popular, Kight suggested, while regulatory changes have forced organisations to print more to stay compliant.

"Legislation is a key driver, and employment contracts," he said. "And MPS is going to grow and grow."
